Standards-Based District Curriculum
Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District has adopted the California Content Standards as the curriculum. Specific skills in the content areas of reading, writing, mathematics, history/social science, and science for each grade level can be viewed by clicking on the following link to the California Department of Education website at www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss/index.asp. The California Department of Education website also has the curriculum frameworks for each content area available for your perusal at www.cde.ca.gov/ci/cr/cf/index.asp. The district has published brochures that summarize the major learnings at each grade level K-5th. These brochures, entitled “By the End of ___ Grade…” are distributed by teachers at Back to School Night each year. District adopted textbooks are aligned to the state content standards and meet the requirements for textbook adoptions set forth by the California State Board of Education. All textbooks adopted are certified as research-based.
