Principal's Message
Mabel Paine Elementary
“L.E.A.P. into the End Zone”
Dear Mabel Paine Families,
Welcome back to the 2010-2011 school year! I'm thrilled to begin another year here with you at Mabel Paine Elementary, a 2010 California Distinguished School. Our theme this year will continue to be based around football and team camaraderie with an emphasis on the Love,Energy, Audacity, and Proof it takes to help our students “L.E.A.P. into the end zone” and score in pursuit of academic excellence.
This school year promises to be another exciting one. It continues to be my priority to ensure students have a safe and positive environment and to make sure the quality of instruction is second to none. I look forward to working with all of you once again. Our staff will continue to participate in ongoing professional development and deliver the most current and relevant curriculum and instruction to students. We will work diligently to meet the individual needs of all students’ academic learning styles and achievement levels. I am confident that as we work together in our educational community, we will make wonderful things happen for the students. On behalf of the Mabel Paine Team, Welcome Back! It’s time once again to get our heads back in the GAME!
The first day of school for students is Tuesday, September 7th. Preliminary class lists will be posted after 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, Sept. 2nd. All class placements are tentative for the first two weeks of school due to changing enrollment during this time. If you have concerns about your child’s placement, please fill out the form available in the office. Unfortunately, we may not be able to accommodate all parent requests.
Childcare is available on site both before and after school. Please call (714) 779-2350 for information or registration.
New student registration may be completed beginning August 10th when the school office opens for the year. If you know of new students in your neighborhood that will be attending school this year, please encourage them to stop by the office and pick up a registration packet as soon as possible. The school office hours are 7:30 – 4:30 P.M. and it is preferable to register before the first day of school.
School lunches cost $2.50. Breakfast cost $1.50. Milk may be purchased for $.50 and juice for $.75. It is our recommendation that you pre pay lunches. Checks should be made payable to PYLUSD Food Services and may be dropped off in the front office Please be sure to write your child’s first & last name on the memo part of the check. You can find updated information regarding lunch menu and prices on the district website at www.pylusd.org. You can now pay for lunches through our new on-line payment program.
Parking Lot: Please make safety and courtesy your guidelines for behavior in the parking lot. Follow the signs, painted curbs, and directions of school personnel to ensure the safety of the children. All students are required to exit automobiles from the passenger side only. Carsmust not be left unattended in the drive-through lanes. In the morning, the smaller horseshoe driveway is reserved for kindergarten and special education parents and buses only. All other students are asked to use the main parking lot valet lane. In the afternoon, both the horseshoe driveway and the main parking lot can be used for pick up, but there is no parking or leaving your car unattended in either lot. Please stay in your car, pull all the way forward as space becomes available, and load your students safely. If you’d like to walk up to school to get your child, please park on the street so our exit traffic can continue to flow smoothly.
